Creating The Perfect Terraced Garden

Creating The Perfect Terraced Garden

Following a major refurbishment of an end terrace house in Durham City it was necessary to landscape the garden as the existing garden had been destroyed during the extensive building works. Major changes in level existed within the site and terraces, steps and walls were the order of the day to be softened by the planting areas required by the client.

With a heavy snowfall the weather wasn’t on our side when we started the project!

We installed a large stone paved terrace to the back of the house providing a good size seating area. From this we stepped down to a smaller seating area which also allowed access to steps to the utility out buildings.

Graveled areas outlined with stone and cobble further terraced the garden and a stone water feature is the centre piece of the lower garden. The planting scheme when mature will soften down the hard lines of the construction. Low voltage lighting has recently been installed to further complement the garden.

“Everyone comments on the creativity & dramatic planting. We are over the moon with the garden & the terrace. From the start the team at Wilkinson’s have exceeded our expectations. We don’t regret a penny spent, it’s great value for money!” – Darnell’s Durham
