Patio Extension With Hedges

Wynyard

Concept to completion: 1 month

Planning

The client required a bigger patio in their rear garden; we created a design that extended the existing paved area to construct a new patio.

The extra space gave the client room to enjoy a more sheltered area of their rear garden. They also wished for more privacy in their front garden, a hedge was planted to create a screen.

By showing the CAD drawing to the client before work began, we could let them pick which option they preferred for the hedge planting, and be sure they were happy with every aspect of the design.

Progress

The original paving was extended by lifting and re-laying existing paving slabs, alongside new slabs of honey-grey natural limestone. A wrap-around border was prepared and planted with a plant structure will, in time, further enclose and shelter the new paved area. Hedges were planted in the front garden with drainage installed into the hedgelines as the soil was extremely wet.

Completion

The existing paved area was very small for the size of the garden and did not provide an adequate seating area.

The new limestone paving not only provides ample space, but blends in seamlessly with the existing paving. The whole area now provides an artistic patio with plenty of room to sit and appreciate the garden’s spectacular views.
