A Garden Refined in Stages 🌿

Project type

Garden Transformation

Date

2025

Location

North East, England

This project shows how a well-planned garden redesign can be delivered in phases — allowing each area to evolve with purpose and precision.

For a returning client, we were asked to refresh a previously completed garden while maintaining consistency with existing materials and style. The original space had plenty of potential but had become tired and uneven, with overgrown planting and a dated patio that no longer suited the homeowners’ lifestyle.

Our brief was to create a cleaner, more cohesive layout that would later accommodate a new summer house and provide space for relaxed outdoor living.

We began by reshaping the back section of the garden, replacing the old paved area with natural stone paving carefully matched to the materials used in our earlier work — ensuring a seamless blend between old and new. A layer of decorative gravel introduces contrast and helps to visually connect the different garden zones. The existing timber screening was retained and reinforced to define the rear boundary while allowing light to filter through, providing privacy without closing off the space.

Simple planting borders were refreshed to frame the design and ensure a balanced, low-maintenance look ahead of the summer house installation. Once complete, this area will offer a seamless transition between indoor comfort and outdoor calm — perfect for entertaining, working, or simply enjoying the view.
