Modern Front Garden & Porcelain Patio Installation

Project type

Front Garden Transformation

Date

Jan 2026

Location

North East, England

Project Overview

This project involved transforming a standard new-build front garden into a structured, welcoming and low-maintenance space.

The original plot consisted of basic turf, open boundaries and minimal definition. While functional, the frontage lacked privacy, structure and usable outdoor space.

Our brief was to create a smart, modern garden that:

Added curb appeal
Provided subtle screening from the road
Introduced usable patio space
Maintained a clean, contemporary feel
Required minimal ongoing maintenance

The Design Approach

With compact front gardens, proportion and flow are everything.

We introduced a curved porcelain patio to soften the rectangular footprint of the property and create a defined seating area without overwhelming the lawn. The curve prevents the space from feeling boxed in and adds visual movement.

Evergreen boundary planting was installed along the internal fence line to:

Increase privacy
Soften the timber fencing
Provide year-round structure and colour

A fresh turf installation created a clean, level lawn area, while decorative gravel margins were used for contrast and drainage control.

Timber picket fencing was installed to frame the plot and clearly define the boundary without closing the space off completely.

Materials & Features

Large-format light porcelain paving
Freshly laid premium turf
Evergreen boundary hedge planting
Decorative gravel edging
Treated timber picket fencing
Defined lawn and planting borders

The Result

The finished garden feels balanced, structured and welcoming.

The porcelain patio adds usable outdoor living space, while the evergreen planting provides natural screening that will mature beautifully over time. The picket fencing enhances the frontage without creating a heavy visual barrier.

This is a great example of how thoughtful design can elevate even a modest new-build plot into a polished and intentional outdoor space.
